View from the Loft

war and peace, politics, books, rants, the passing parade ...

Well, folks, I have been having a lot of trouble posting to the blog lately. I comb the web for news and analysis, and I end up feeling paralyzed. So after today, I'm taking a couple of weeks off (I know, I had all that time between Thanksgiving and Christmas when I didn't post a thing, but ...) in the interest of mental health and a better night's sleep (I hope).

Before I go, I'd like to point you to a couple of interesting items. First, do yourself a favor and read Eric Alterman's article in The Nation. In it, he explains that Europe doesn't hate America--just Geo. W. Bush and his henchmen.

Second, here is a site featuring vintage posters that the artist has updated with text relevant to current events. Check it out! Well worth it.

Also, here are some links to keep you up-to-date during the next two to three weeks:

Media Workers Against War (click on Top Stories and/or Global)

These organizations have e-mail lists and ongoing actions and campaigns. Visit them and get on their lists. MoveOn, especially, has been very effective in organizing and in utilizing the media.

Voice4Change Site is a little cluttered, you'll have to look around a bit
